Smell of nostalgia in North Norfolk

One of the things that North Norfolk does especially well is nostalgia.

When you stay at one of the most important hotels in North Norfolk hideaway, you will be picked up very quickly, especially if you take the time to research the rows of brochures in many of the companies that give you details of local attractions.

For steam rail enthusiasts, Norfolk is a dream.

A weekend in Norfolk can be completely dedicated to the sights, smells and noise of steam moving on several private railways.

The North Norfolk Railway, known locally as the Poppy Line, offers year-round steam transport services between the coastal town of Sheringham and the Georgian town of Holt, stopping at several stations along the way.

It is one of the wonderful views of North Norfolk to see a large black steam engine carrying carriages along the coast and turning towards Holt.

With a number of North Norfolk hotels near the train centers, don't forget to walk to the station and see the trains coming and going before booking a ticket for an unforgettable trip down the line.

Sheringham is an interesting tourist complex to explore for a few hours, while Holt is a charming market town where time seems to have stopped. It has its own set of independent stores selling a wide range of gifts and products and even its own department stores. There are also cafes and restaurants and excellent accommodation if you want to stay a bit further in the city and explore the area further by car or on foot.

In addition to the North Norfolk Railway, there is the Bure Valley Railway which runs between Aylsham and Wroxham. This narrow gauge railway crosses a beautiful landscape to the north and is well placed for some luxury hotels in Norfolk. Wroxham is also a perfect starting point for Norfolk Broads.

There is also the Wells and Walsingham light rail and further inside the Mid Norfolk railroad, departing from Dereham and crossing the rural center of Norfolk to Wymondham and regularly operating steam services on weekends during the summer months.
